RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to home standing IU-East on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 21) by the scores of (25-15, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16).
The Pomeroys fell to 16-2, 0-2 RSC while IU-East improved to 11-7, 1-2 RSC.
For the second consecutive match,
Karla Melendez led the way in kills this time with 16.
Isabel Hansen posted four total blocks while
Alexis Keoho was credited with 15 set assists and
Jocelyn Chavez tallied 10 digs.
At the net, the Pomeroys won the battle with eight blocks while IU-East posted seven.
In the second set, SMWC scored four points in a row to take a 6-3 lead after dropping the opening set.
Masa Pesic's kill gave SMWC the lead. Later in the set, the Pomeroys would once again score four in a row capped by a block from Pesic and
Alex Hernandez for the 18-11 lead. The Pomeroys would get a kill from Hansen to record the 25-19 victory in set two to level the match.
IU-East won the final two sets to earn the victory in the match.Â
River States Conference play continues for the Pomeroys on Tuesday, September 24 when they host Oakland City inside the Knoerle Center. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. (ET).
