SILVIS, Ill. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team faced a tough challenge against some of the most talented teams in the NAIA Midwest Invitational but also faced a tough challenge by playing at The TPC Deere Run Golf Course which has been the host of number top collegiate and professional events over the years. TPC Deere Run is a par-71 layout.
The Pomeroys notched a tie for 20th place finish by carding rounds of 318 and 341 for a two-round total of 659. SMWC tied with St. Francis for 20th place and finished ahead of Viterbo, Trinity Christian and Governors State. Mt. Mercy totaled a score of 582 to win the event.Â
Chase Nuckols posted rounds of 79 and 84 for a total of 163 which finished in a tie for 69th place.
Brevin Cooper posted rounds of 82 and 83 for a total of 165 which was good enough to tie for 80th place.
Hunter Martin posted rounds of 85 and 83 for a total of 168 which tied for 95th place.
Colby Beckwith tallied rounds of 75 and 95 for a total of 170 which finished in a tie for 101st place.
Justin Hopkins posted rounds of 82 and 91 for a total of 173 which was tied for 106th.Â
SMWC will travel to Daniels, W.V., to take part in the River States Conference Preview tournament on September 30 & October 1.
