DANIELS, W.V. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team is in sixth place after the opening round of the River States Conference Preview which is being held at the par 72 Glade Springs Resort and hosted by West Virginia Tech.
Midway is leading the action with an opening day score of 292 while the Pomeroys are in sixth after an opening round of 311. The Woods are just ahead of IU-Kokomo and Shawnee State who carded rounds of 312 which is tied for seventh. Brescia at 315 is in ninth while Alice Lloyd rounds out the field in 10
th at 329.
SMWC is behind IU-East by just one stroke who is in fifth place with a score of 310.
Noah Allen fired an opening round of 75 and is the top Pomeroys in 12
th place.
Chase Nuckols is in 23rd place who carded an opener of 78.
Brevin Cooper carded an opening round of 79 which is in 28
th place.
Justin Hopkins is tied for 28
th place with Cooper after he also posted an opener of 79 while the SMWC lineup was rounded out by
Colby Beckwith who is also in 28th place with a 79 on Monday.
The Pomeroys will take part in the final round of the event on Tuesday, October 1 as part of the 10-team field.
