SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's volleyball team continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Truett-McConnell University (25-13, 25-15, 25-12) on Friday evening (Jan. 24) at the Knoerle Center. With the win, the Pomeroys improved to 3-0 on the year.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods was led by Joseph Szadorski who recorded eight kills and a .462 hitting percentage while junior outside hitter Tyler Duranceau posted a team-high six kills and added three aces. Fellow outside hitter Christian Green contributed five kills and seven points in the victory, while Yammiel Martinez added four kills on an impressive .571 hitting percentage.
Truett-McConnell struggled to find its rhythm, with the team finishing with a -.096 hitting percentage for the match. Alex Bosman was the standout for the Bears, recording eight kills, while Adam Shuman tallied six kills and 7.5 points.
The Pomeroys now turn their focus to the final day of the SMWC Invitational on Saturday, January 25. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods will host Governors State at 1 pm (ET) and Rockford at 3 p.m.. Both matches will take place at the Knoerle Center.
