SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – Governor's State University came from behind to defeat Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in a four-set thriller on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25), taking the match 3-1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-20, 27-25) at the Knoerle Center.
The contest was tightly contested early, with the Pomeroys (3-1) taking the first set 27-25, but Governor's State (3-1) bounced back, winning the next three sets to claim the victory.
Top Performers
For Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Tyler Duranceau led the charge with 16 kills, while Christian Green added 10 of his own. Trevin Matsuba was also solid, contributing 12 digs and serving up an ace.
Despite the Pomeroys' effort, Governor's State's offense was too much to handle. Daniel Lopez powered the Jaguars with 17 kills and added seven digs. Diego Antunez also played a pivotal role, contributing 16 kills and five assists.

Governor's State registered 52 kills and posted a .163 hitting percentage, while Saint Mary-of-the-Woods had 46 kills with a .152 hitting percentage. The Jaguars also outperformed the Pomeroys in assists, with 49 compared to SMWC's 41.
