Pomeroys Fall to Carlow 78-85 in RSC Battle

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Penn. – The SMWC Men's Basketball team was unable to hold on against Carlow University last night in the team's 78-85 point loss. The team battled the Celtics right to the end and showed strong play on both sides of the ball. Dakota Sampson and Elkin Ramirez both posted double-doubles on the night as the team continues to improve their play. The Pomeroys set season-high records in field goals made (33) and field goals attempted (77) as the team continues to get plenty of shots up. Defensively, the team set a season-high in rebounds with 39 on the night with Sampson becoming a force under the basket.
By the Numbers
  • Sampson led the team in scoring with a 22 points on 10-17 shooting while also adding four blocks and a steal. He was followed by Ramirez with 17 and Robert DeSilvia with 16.
  • Sampson also led the team in rebounds with 11 to give him a double-double on the night. DeSilvia would pull down 7 of the team's season-high 39.
  • The Pomeroys would record 19 assists throughout the game, with Ramirez leading the team with 10.
  • Speed kills as SMWC would score 27 fast break points to Carlow's 16 and the team capitalized on turnovers with 19 of their points coming off Celtic mistakes.
