"Three huge games," coach Ron Kiernicki said looking ahead at the three-game homestand that begins Saturday against Brescia.
The Pomeroys (0-2-2) are looking to break through with their first River States Conference win.
"We trade punches with them. Many teams have. When they're on, they're dangerous," Kiernicki said of Brescia. "We've tied them twice, we've beat them once and there's times they've beat us. They came out against IU Kokomo and went up 2-0 and IU Kokomo's arguably the best or second best team in our conference. You have to be tactical about getting through their lines."
The Pomeroys have not been at full health since the opening game of the season, but should now have the front line back intact.
Sierra Mullins and
Kennedy Trigg both missed time over the last two weeks as did
Kaylee Thaler and defender
Kortney Buckley.
"We got Thaler back. Most of our kids are off injured reserve now. We're back to the team we can be," Kiernicki said. "The bench did a great job while they were injured. With the feet coming back, we're seeing more productive games. We're adding more dimensions to our attack. We're trying to be more patient in our attacking third. There's a lot of attackers on this team. It's finding their roles and who's going to step up at the right time."
The Pomeroys will host Carlow on Thursday before playing first-place Point Park next Saturday.
"We should have won the West Virgina Tech gam. Rain was a great equalizer. If we get some momentum going into Point Park [next Saturday], that's what we're aiming for right now," Kiernicki said.
The Pomeroys will play host to Carlow next Thursday and Point Park next Saturday.
