Box Score Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Men's Soccer team welcomed the Midway Eagles (0-6) to SMWC Soccer Field for an afternoon River States Conference matchup. The Pomeroys were still looking for their first win of the season as well as get their first conference win of the season.
A lot of back-and-forth action in the first half resulting in no goals being scored by either team. The Pomeroys would break that tie in the second half off a nice header from Hamza Zagmouzi with 20 minutes left in the 2^nd half. There was some frustration on the Pomeroys' bench with how some of the calls went but Zagmouzi felt great about scoring the winning goal for his team and gave them praise. "Getting a win in the second game of the conference is pretty good," Zagmouzi said "I want to thank the boys for their effort on the pitch."
This win improves the Pomeroys record to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Their next match will be at West Virginia Tech on Oct. 1^st at 2:00pm.
