TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Thomas Chapman led a small but mighty group of Pomeroys as he earned a second place finish in the men's 8K open race at the NCAA Division III PreNationals on Friday evening (Oct. 4) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course and in the process broke his own school record in the event.
Just two weeks, Chapman set a new school record with a time of 25:55 in the men's 8k at the John McNichols Invitational on the same course and in this event ran a time of 25:49.4 to break his own school and personal best and finish second in the event behind Will Liu of Washington (Mo.) who ran a time of 25:45.2.
Other finishers for the Pomeroys included
Fanuel Tikabo who finished 101st and covered the course in 28:23.2. Ethan Dehamer posted a time of 30:50.9 while
Nathan McIntyre finished in a time of 31:36.1.
The Pomeroys will travel to the Angel Mounds Invitational on Friday, October 18 as they head to Evansville to compete. This is an important event as Angel Mounds is the site of the River States Conference Championship Meet on November 9 and will serve as a preview for the final event of the season.
