Pomeroy Womens Golf Tied For First After Battling The Elements At Dechert Classic

DECATUR, Ill. — The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team battled the elements and the opposition and currently sit tied for the lead after the opening round of the Dechert Classic. The event is being held at South Side Country Club which is a par-72 layout.

Renae Jaeger once again leads the Pomeroy contingent with an opening round of 80 which is good enough for second place in the individual standings. Sophia Boyll's round of 85 is good enough for ninth. Jaeger finds herself one shot off the lead as Illinois Wesleyan's Grace Fagin carded a 79 in the opening round.

As a team, the Pomeroys posted a round of 338 which is currently tied with Illinois-Wesleyan for the lead. UW-Oshkosh is in third place with a score of 341 while North Central (Ill.) is in fourth with a score of 348. Millikin, Loras, Carl Sanburg and North Park round out the field.

Kristin Pagach carded a round of 86 and sits in 11th while Macie Shirk's tally of 87 sits in 17th place. Bailey Barker sits in 41st place with a round of 98.

Competing as individuals, Brianna Andreas tallied a round of 90 which is 23rd while Emily Vandall's 93 is good enough for 33rd. 

The action begins at 8:00 am (CT) on Saturday, September 28 in the second and final round of the Dechert Classic.
