DECATUR, Ill. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's golf team captured a second place team finish and
Renae Jaeger tied for individual medalist honors at the Dechert Classic hosted by Millikin University at the South Side Country Club this weekend in central Illinois. The course was a par-72 layout.
Jaeger fired an 81 after an opener of 80 to post a two-day score of 161 and a tie for first place.
Macie Shirk's round of 83 followed an 87 on Friday for a total of 170 and was good enough for ninth place in the individual field. Sophia Boyll's round of 89 followed a score of 85 in the opener for a total of 174 which put her in 12th place overall.
Kristin Pagach tallied rounds of 86 and 95 for a total of 181 and finished in 23rd place.
Bailey Barker finished in 28th with rounds of 98 and 87 for a two-day score of 185.
The Pomeroys followed up their opening round of 338 with a score of 340 on Saturday which was good enough for a two-day score of 678 and a second place finish in the eight-team field. Illinois Wesleyan won the event by three strokes as they followed up their opener of 338 with a score of 337 for a total of 675 and the victory. SMWC defeated UW-Oshkosh by 15 strokes. The Pomeroys also defeated North Central (Ill.), host Millikin, Loras, Carl Sandburg and North Park.
Brianna Andreas posted rounds of 90 and 95 to post a total of 185 to finish in 28th place while
Emily Vandall's rounds of 93 and 95 produced a total of 188 which was good enough for 33rd place.
The Pomeroys are back in action on October 14 & 15 when they travel to the William Penn Invitational in Silvis, Ill.
