INDIANAPOLIS -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's and women's track and field teams returned to action this afternoon (Jan. 17) at the Gerry England Invitational on the campus of the University of Indianapolis.
The Pomeroys will then travel to Rose-Hulman for the Friday Night Spikes Series on each of the next two Friday nights at 6 pm (ET).
Jaci Stone finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.68 meters (15-4.25).
Evelyn Morales led SMWC in the women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.19 and a ninth place finish in the event.
Genesis Boyd was 12
th with a time of 10.80 seconds while
Joslyn Young was 14
th in 11.47 seconds.
Brinlee McCloud was sixth in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:56.29 and was the top SMWC performer in the event.
Chloe Field was seventh with a time of 2:47.31 while
Gwen Garman was eighth in a time of 2:51.90. In the 200 meter dash, Alexandra Hernandez was 12
th with a time of 28.56 seconds.
Stone would go on to qualify for the finals of the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.33 seconds in the prelims and came back with a time of 8.25 seconds in the finals for a seventh place finish.
Emma Lynch finished ninth in the mile run with a time of 6:45.92 while
Clara Westcott was 10
th in a time of 6:47.52. Young was the top Pomeroy in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:06.09 while Brooklynn Deck was 10
th with a time of 1:07.62.
Quinlan Teague posted a sixth place finish in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:18.03.
IndiAnn Nichols finished ninth in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.19 meters (33-5.25).
Callee Riggle was 12
th with a throw of 9.61 meters (31-6.25). Riggle also competed in the weight throw and led the Pomeroys with a 16
th place finish and throw of 9.90 meters (32-6) while Nichols was 18
th with a throw of 9.24 meters (30-4).
In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the team of Morales, Deck, Field and Young was second with a time of 4:31.08.
