TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team fell to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 5-0 on Wednesday, at the RHIT Intramural Field.

Last season, these two sides battled to a scoreless draw. This season, RHIT got the better of the Pomeroys with a 5-0 victory. The scoring started early for RHIT, as the Fightin' Engineers tallied two goals in the first 10 minutes. SMWC ended the first half with a 3-0 disadvantage after allowing RHIT to also get on the board in the 14th minute.

The Pomeroys recorded four shots in the first half. All four shots hailed from a different player, as freshman Yadira Castellanos, senior Sarah Robinson, sophomore Cami Navarra, and junior Amanda Loebker all recorded shots.

In the second half, RHIT got on the board two more times before the final whistle. The Pomeroys recorded six shots in the final 45 minutes compared to RHIT's nine. Junior Kylee White, Robinson, and Loebker finished the night with two shots each.

Sophomore Georgie Macy played 69 minutes in goal, while freshman Shannon Sonderman finished the final 21 minutes in the net for the Pomeroys. Macy allowed three goals and made four saves, while Sonderman allowed two goals and made one save.

After Wednesday's defeat, the Pomeroys sit at 2-8-0 overall and will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 for homecoming. On Saturday, SMWC will face Oakland City University in a rematch from Sept. 9. Wednesday's match ended SMWC's four-game road stretch. The Pomeroys will now begin a four-game home stand to finish off the 2014 regular season.
