Pomeroys Fall to Oakland City

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College soccer team fell to Oakland City on Saturday, 4-0.

Although the Pomeroys shutout OCU in the second half, SMWC couldn't overcome the four-goal lead that OCU built in the first half.

OCU got on the board in the 4th minute and then again in the seventh minute to take a quick 2-0 lead. OCU went on to score goals in the 14th and 26th minute to give OCU four goals in the first half.

Sophomore Georgie Macy was in goal in the first half and made four saves, while freshman Shannon Sonderman was in goal for the second half and made six saves. Junior Kylie White lead SMWC in shot attempts with four, while junior Amanda Loebker recorded three.

Three yellow cards were issued throughout the match, with two of them being handed out to SMWC. Loebker was carded at the 41:51 mark, and White was carded at the 83:30 mark. OCU's Steph Solorza was also carded in the second half at the 52 minute mark.

The Pomeroys will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Detroit, Mich., to play Marygrove College in a 3:30 p.m. start.
