Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team fell to Oakland City on Thursday night, 5-0. The Pomeroys now sit a 1-9 on the year.
Oakland City scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of play, and then added their fourth goal in the 32nd minute to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Mighty Oaks heading into halftime. In the second half, the Mighty Oaks added one goal in the 63rd minute to make it 5-0 in favor of OCU.
The Pomeroys recorded four shots on goal and were led by senior Whitney Teeters, who recorded two shots on goal. Also recording shots on goal were junior Jordan Bray and senior Morgan Samuelson. Junior Georgie Macy spent 60 minutes in goal and made nine saves, while allowing four goals. Sophomore Shannon Sonderman then came in during the second half to play 30 minutes. Sonderman made one save and allowed one goal.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on October 12 when they head to Brescia for a 6 p.m. start.
