Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College soccer team fell to Shawnee State on Monday, 2-1.
The Pomeroys fell behind in the 43rd minute, as Shawnee State took a 1-0 lead that would carry into halftime. In the second half, Shawnee State tallied its second goal in the 70th minute. The Pomeroys quickly responded with a goal by senior Amanda Loebker that was assisted by sophomore Yadira Castellanos in the 73rd minute. It was Loebker's second goal of the season and Castellanos' first assist of the season.
The Pomeroys recorded four shots on goal compared to Shawnee State's seven. Loebker led SMWC with two shots on goal, while fellow senior Kylee White and junior Cami Navarra each added one shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Georgie Macy made five saves in 90 minutes of action.
