Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team fell to Oakland City on Saturday, 7-2. The Pomeroys now sit at 2-10-0 on the year.
Freshman Ashley Jezik continues to lead the Pomeroys offensively, as she notched goals number 10 and 11 on the year. The first goal came in the 13th minute to give SMWC an early 1-0 lead. The second goal came in the 57th minute that had the Pomeroys trailing 4-2. The Mighty Oaks tallied three more goals in the match to hand SMWC the 7-2 defeat.
Jezik's 11 goals has her approaching the single season record of 15 with three matches left. The single season goals record of 15 was set by Amanda Loebker in 2013. Jezik will have road matches at Cincinnati Clermont and Grace Bible, as well as a home match against Shawnee State to see if she can etch her name in the SMWC record books.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on October 13 when they head to Cincinnati Clermont for a 4 p.m. rematch with the Cougars. The Pomeroys defeated UCC 9-0 back on October 5.
