Box Score SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team fell to Lincoln Christian on Friday night in Hamilton Arena, 3-0 (23-25, 20-25, 23-25).
The Pomeroys were down to six players on Friday night due to injury, but they didn't let that deter their will. SMWC fought through three sets and found themselves in the right position towards the end of each, but couldn't close out the Red Lions.
It was back and forth on the scoresheet for the majority of each set. The final set forced the Red Lions to give it their all to put away the Pomeroys, as SMWC refused to go quietly and battled to a close 23-25 defeat in set three.
Sophomore Gabriella Slagle led the Pomeroys in kills with 12 and finished the night with a .259 attack percentage. Sophomore McKenzi Kumpf led SMWC in assists with 16 and junior Madeline Howes led in digs with 16.
The Pomeroys will be back in action on September 21 when they head to Franklin for the first of six straight road matches. SMWC will be back at home on October 1 for homecoming against Oakland City at 2 p.m.
