SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -  The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College volleyball team fell, 3-0, to Brescia in Saturday's 2016 home opener for the Pomeroys. SMWC now sits at 1-2 on the year.

The Pomeroys fell 14-25, 22-25, 18-25, while sophomore McKenzi Kumpf and Gabriella Slagle led the team in kills with six each. Sophomore Mary Alvanos led the team in assists with 11, while Kumpf had a match high 12 digs.

The Pomeroys were able to gain momentum several times over the course of the three set match, but couldn't stop the Bearcats' attack as Brescia finished with a .184 attack percentage in comparison to SMWC's -.021.

SMWC will regroup and focus on Tuesday's challenge of NCAA DIII Greenville. The second home match of the 2016 season is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. The match will feature LIVE stats and video via the Pomeroys LIVE Portal.
