Volleyball Finishes Second Place in SMWC Volleyball Classic; Monica Mack Named All-Tournament Team

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - The Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College women's volleyball team finished with a 2-1 record at its very own SMWC Volleyball Classic. In game one, the Pomeroys defeated Midway University in a grueling five-set match (15-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15, 15-7) but fell in game two of the day against West Virginia Institute of Technology (25-15, 25-18, 25-13). Monica Mack was named All-Tournament team at SMWC Volleyball Classic which is voted on by each head coach. Katelyn Byrd (West Virginia Tech), Kristen Schorr (Oakland City University), and Kylie Flatt (Midway University).

What you need to know:

  • SMWC concluded the tournament with a 2-1 record; they defeated Oakland City University and Midway University

  • Monica Mack earned All-Tournament status for the SMWC Volleyball Classic

  • Against Midway, Gabriella Slagle finished the contest with 14 kills and 18.5 points scored

  • Overall, the Pomeroys tallied 63.0 points against the Eagles

  • Riley Kinney led the hitters against West Virginia Institute of Technology with eight kills

The SMWC will be back in action on September 18th against Franklin College. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
