SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) volleyball team (4-2) fell to Indiana University-Kokomo (8-0) this evening, unable to withstand the offensive attacks of the Cougars. The top performers for SMWC were Alexis Woodburn (8 kills, 4 digs, 1 BS), Riley Kinney (5 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks).

The Highlights

• SMWC found themselves behind early as IU-Kokomo's attack would prove too much. Some errors and simple mistakes would put the Pomeroys behind 14-5 before kills by Riley Kinney, Mandi Alspach, and Alexis Woodburn would tighten the Cougars lead to 4. A 10-3 run by IU-Kokomo would finish off the first set and put SMWC down 1-0
• The second set was proof that SMWC could kick it into another gear as they would keep the set within 3 throughout. A flurry of aces by the Cougars and errors on the part of SMWC would give the set away late 25-16 as the Pomeroys found their backs against the wall down 2-0
• Once again, SMWC was able to kick it into high gear and would either keep the score within one or take the lead through the first half of the set. Finishing would be the most troubling aspects for the Pomeroys as they began to look tired and drop the third set 25-20.

Senior Night

Four seniors were honored this evening; Riley Kinney, Alyssa Hill, Mandi Alspach, and Katelyn Cotter. Each one was celebrated for their achievements on and off the court. Pictures from the ceremony can be found below.
