SMWC cross country teams take 8th at RSC Championships

The SMWC women's cross country team placed 8th out of 12 teams and the men's team was 8th out of 11 on Saturday in the River States Conference Championships at Woodford County Park in Versailles, Ky.
Junior Thomas Chapman was the top individual finisher for the Pomeroys, placing 15th in the 8,000-meter men's race with a time of 26 minutes, 18.12 seconds. 
Senior Alec Smith continued his solid season, taking 38th in 27:23.91 for a personal best time. Jonathan Hayden took 55th in a time of 28:34.31. Evan Adams was the No. 4 SMWC finisher in 88th, while senior Braeden Heaton ran his final race for SMWC, taking 89th in a time of 30:52.71. 
Shawnee State took the men's team title, advancing to the NAIA Nationals with a dominant score of 26 with all five runners in the Top 10. 
In the women's 6K race, the Pomeroys' young team finished the season in with quality results it can build off of. 
Sophomore Abbigael Coyle  led the Pomeroys with a 25th-place finish with a time of 25:51.22. Sophomore Quinlan Teague ran a time of 26:54.63 to take 35th, and freshman Brinlee McCloud posted a time of 27:59.22 to take 56th. 
Sophomore Katelynn Braun placed 64th in 28:26.45. Emma Lynch rounded out the top 5 in 29:46.0. 
Track and field sprinter/jumper Lara Skaggs filled in admirably with an 87th-place finish in a time of 34:54.61. 
IU East took the team title with 58, holding off runner-up Shawnee State with 89.
