SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's cross country team has been picked to finish sixth at the River States Conference Championship to be held November 9 in Evansville, Ind.
IU East has been picked to finish first in the women's poll with eight first place votes and 96 total points while Shawnee State and IU Kokomo earned one vote each. SMWC checks in the sixth place spot with a total of 55 points ahead of IU Coumbus, West Virginia Tech, Brescia, Oakland City and Alice Lloyd.

SMWC opens the campaign on September 7 when they travel to the Franklin Invitational and will compete in Terre Haute at the John McNichols Invitational on September 21. On Friday, October 4 the Pomeroys will once again compete at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course when they participate in the NAIA Pre Championship meet. The Woods will also travel to the Angel Mounds Invitational (Oct. 18) and the NAIA Great Lake Challenge (Oct. 26).
The River States Conference meet is scheduled for November 2 in Evansville.
Quinlan Teague ran a time of 26:54.63 to take 35th, and
Brinlee McCloud posted a time of 27:59.22 to take 56th.Â
Katelynn Braun placed 64th in 28:26.45.Â
Emma Lynch rounded out the Pomeroy's Top 5 in 29:46.0. Overall, SMWC finished 8th in the field at the championship meet.
