Men's Basketball Ace Hunt

SMWC To Host Marian (Ind.) Saturday At 1 pm (ET) Inside Knoerle Center

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's basketball team continues its mid-season home stand with its final regular season non-conference tilt of 2024 when they will host Marian (Ind.) at 1 pm (ET) inside the Knoerle Center.

The Pomeroys are 10-2 on the season and are riding a 10-game winning streak. Marian is 6-6 this season and just fell on Thursday at home to River States Conference member IU-Columbus. 

SMWC is averaging 85.75 points per game this year and are led in scoring by Shon Tupuola who is averaging 15.7 points per game as well as 11.9 rebounds per contest. He has six double-doubles so far this season and has hit 80-of-106 of his shot attempts this season (75.5 percent). His field goal percentage is second-best nationally right behind Jaden Lietzke of Oklahoma Wesleyan who is just ahead at 75.6 percent.

Both of these teams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament one season ago. Marian is led by Pat Knight -- son of legendary Indiana head basketball coach Bob Knight. SMWC is 1-0 in conference play so far this season with the regular season and conference champion receiving automatic bids to the 2025 NAIA National Tournament.

This is the final game before the holiday break for the Pomeroys who will be idle until they enter the teeth of the RSC schedule with a home contest on Saturday, January 4 at 1 pm (ET) against IU-Southeast.
