INDIANAPOLIS -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's track and field team sent several student-athletes to compete against a loaded field at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18).
In the men's shot put
Jerahmia Smith recorded a throw of 15.40 meters (50-6.25) to record a 10
th place finish. Also in the event,
Tristan Benskin posted a distance of 14.24 meters (46-8.75) for a 15
th place finish. In the weight throw, Benskin posted a distance of 12.12 meters (39-9.25) for a 22nd place result.
Thomas Chapman was 24
th in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:53.59.
Ethan DeHamer competed in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:36.81 and a ninth place finish.
Darrius Megnin was 14
th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds. It proved to be a personal best and school record time for Megnin in the event.
The Pomeroys also competed in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3:30.15 which was good enough for eight place. Competing in the relay were: Megnin, Christain Woodard, Jaryn Patterson and Na'Sier Samuel. That was the fastest time in the event in program history.
SMWC returns to action for both the men's and women's teams on Friday, January 24 when they travel across town to Rose-Hulman for the first of two Friday Night Spikes events. The two teams will also head back over to the east side of Vigo County for a similar event on Friday, January 31.
